Regan Sheppard, M.A.

Therapy is the installation of hope!

I approach therapy with the belief that you are a unique individual, deserving of a meaningful, fulfilling, and harmonious life. We will work in a collaborative, trusting manner to acquire the insight and the tools that will empower you to achieve your goals.

Regan Sheppard, M.A., counsels adults
and couples
in Bellingham, Washington.
She works with the 'growth model' of human behavior, believing that we already possess the strengths that we need to thrive, but may just
need a little help to tap into them.

Why Marriage Counseling?

Your relationship will take work, don’t give up too quickly!
Marriages end not because of arguments, but because of the way couples argue.  Research has shown that couples have 4 types of damaging habits that work to destroy relationships. Divorce can be predicted with 90 % accuracy when experts see any of these 4 habits. Could you be doing any of these in your relationship?

"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forward"
                                                                                                         -- Soren Kierkegaard

My philosophy:
I am “marriage friendly”. When we talk I make the assumption that you are here to save your relationship. I also recognize that some relationships are harmful, and different approaches may be taken to address specific concerns.

 What to expect:
It takes a lot of strength to honestly assess your current situation, to confront certain truths and commit to make changes in your relationship. In a supportive and collaborative environment, we will identify your goals, and map out a strategy to address your concerns.

Intimacy issues often are discussed in marriage therapy. Society doesn’t always want us to talk about sex, and we are often left feeling as though we lack the skills to deal with sexual issues. Using up-to-date methods we can address sexual desire issues, male and female sexual dysfunction, as well as feelings of guilt, anxiety or fear around sex.

My position as a therapist is to collaborate with you in a safe setting that will allow for increased self awareness and increased ability to lead a genuine and authentic life.
